Term 4- Can you survive the Alps?

In Term 4, we will be exploring dizzying the Alps!
English
During class reading sessions, we will be reading 'Where the River Runs Gold' by Sita Brahmachari. This book takes an exciting look into a dystopian world where bees are extinct and the path this may lead us down!
In writing, we will be creating non-chronological reports all about Mount Everest, as well as writing a balanced argument about whether we should be climbing Mount Everest or not.
Maths
This term, we will be exploring decimals, fractions and percentages, looking at their equivalents as well as answering calculations. We will also be exploring area and perimeter, working to develop our ability to solve problems involving these. We will be exploring statistics, reading and interpreting different graphs and charts including pie charts and we will be ending the term looking at shape.
Big Question Lessons
Our topic lessons this term will focus on Geography, looking at aspects of the Alps, including locating it on a world map and a map of Europe. We will look at the human geography and physical characteristics and comparing these to our local environment.
In Design and Technology, we will be focusing on food where we will be designing, making and eating our own savoury muffins, thinking about what they contain and how they can support our health.
Science
In Science, we will be exploring light. We will look closely at how light travels by undertaking experiments and we will look at how shadows are cast and whether they are the same shape as the object that casts it. We will also be looking at reflection and refraction and discovering what colour light actually is.
