Term 6 - Is adapting always the right thing?

English

Holes by Louis Sachar is a powerful and thought-provoking novel published byIn Term 5, we will be reading the story 'Holes' We will be using the VIPERS skills to understand the story and explore the characters. We will then use this in our writing lessons to create a persuasive brochure.

In writing, we will be using the book The Arrival to write a descriptive piece of writing following the story told through beautiful images. We will then follow this with writing based on the story Holes, creating a brochure for Camp Green Lake.

Maths

This term in maths, we will be undertaking project work where children will apply their knowledge that they have learnt across the year to different scenarios. We will be looking at WW2 maths such as battle ships, running and costing a bakery and designing and measuring up a theme park. 

Big Question Lessons

​For the final term, we will be exploring a local geographical issue that is affecting us as a community, such as parking or wildlife areas. The children will pose questions about issues we might be facing before undertaking their own field-work study which may include questionnaires and sketch maps to help us try and solve the issue.

Science

Year 6 - Science: Heart and Circulatory System - Sebright Primary School​In science lessons, we will be exploring Animals Including Humans, where we will be exploring the circulatory system and how the heart works. We will look at the importance of blood and also how our lifestyle affects us.
