Home Learning

Children should be encouraged to read daily. Please ensure children bring their reading record and book into school on a Tuesday and Thursday so we can monitor home reading and change books when needed. Children will have a colour banded book and encouraged to read a second book for pleasure.

Spellings will be going home on a weekly basis so please encourage children to learn these daily for 5 or 10 minutes. Children will have focused spelling lessons to help immerse these spellings into their writing.

When possible, we would also like children to continue learning their times tables using Times Tables Rockstars. Please contact us if you are unable to login as we will be able to send their information to you. Logins should be found stapled to the reading record book.

In year 5 we use  IXL where children can practice their English and maths skills online. If you have not yet accessed this, please log in to see what is available. Children will work to achieve both personal and class certificates.

We would like to encourage children to explore the whole school and class question at home if they would like to. This term we will be exploring the concept of “Adventure”. The children are not expected to complete this home learning but many children enjoy researching and making things at home, so we have collected a few ideas to explore. We look forward to seeing the home learning when it is shared in class.
