WHY DO RIGHTS EXIST?

 

In Year One our Big Question is...

WHAT ARE RIGHTS? 

This term we will pose the question ‘What are rights?’ We will be exploring rights through some interesting texts that will inspire your children to question the world, begin to understand rights and the importance of having rights. We will begin our learning by reflecting on Black History Month and thinking about the rights of all members of society. Our learning will be based on the book ‘Welcome’ where we will consider how to be a good citizen and ways to make everyone feel welcome. One of our focusses will be considering the rights to shelter through the story of the ‘Three Little Pigs.’
