Term 3 - Why lead when you can follow?

'Why Lead When You Can Follow?"

Where Do Leaders Come From?

Welcome back to term 3! This term, our overarching question is "Why lead when you can follow?" and Year 3 will be focusing on where leaders come from, with a focus on the history and impact of democracy across the world!

English

For Term 3, our class text - 'Beasts of Olympus' by Lucy Coats - will be taking us on an exciting journey to Ancient Greece and a world of strange and mythical gods! The children will be exploring descriptive narrative writing as they plan and create their very own mythical story.

Maths

In maths, children will be continuing to develop their multiplication and division skills that they started in term 2. This will include the 3, 4 and 8 times table and dividing with remainders. We will also look at how we can use metric units to measure different objects and areas.

Topic & Science

This term will have a history focus as we jump back in time to the birth of democracy and people power in Ancient Greece! We will be exploring our question 'where do leaders come from?' as we discover what democracy is, how people became leaders and the role of Greek Gods in Greek society.

For science, we will be exploring what it means to 'work scientifically' by investigating  a variety of different experiments throughout the term. We will focus on the central question 'Who's leading the science?' as we take on the tasks.
