Term 5-Does conflict change how we communicate?

What happens when there is conflict?

Keep calm and carry on, Year 6 are exploring what happened during World War 2. Make sure you have your gas mask with you at all times, in case of an air raid. Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye while I'm evacuated to somewhere safe in the countryside, instead of enduring The Blitz.

In History, we will be exploring the events of WW2. Beginning with the end of WW1 and how that led to the start of WW2. Children being evacuated to safety, in the countryside and what happened during an air-raid. The Blitz and how this inspired Blitz spirit. We will find about the countries involved in the conflict and their leaders. We will also explore what happened during The Holocaust (this will be dealt with age-appropriately and as delicately as we can).

In Design and Technology, we will 'make do and mend' by recycling an item of old clothing into something new for the children to keep.

In Science, our topic is 'Electricity' we will be exploring the effect of multiple bulbs or multiple batteries on a circuit. We will be learning how to draw scientific circuit diagrams and designing and building our own lighthouse models.

This term is also Forest School. The days will vary between Monday's and Thursday's due to the bank holidays taking place this term. A letter will be sent to explain when your child's class will have their Forest School sessions. On those days, your child will need to bring a change of shoes and some long trousers (if they are wearing a skirt or shorts).

WINSTON CHURCHILL SPEECHES-We listened to Churchill's famous 'We will fight them on the beaches' speech. We then wrote and recorded our own Churchill inspired speech.
