Term 6- How does change affect us?

Welcome back! Can you believe we are in Term 6 already? We are looking forward to an exciting seven weeks, full of fantastic learning opportunities.

The big question for the whole school this term is "Is it better to adapt or stay the same?". In Reception, we wonder how change will affect us. As this will link into our work on transition to Year 1, as it is the summer term, we will also cover the topics under the sea, the beach and summer. We will continue to explore the topic through stories and animations using The Write Stuff and Drawing Club. This term we will look at The Rainbow Fish, If sharks disappeared, The snail and the Whale, The singing mermaid and The Pirates Next door.

In Phonics, we are still learning Phase 4. There will be no new sounds, but we will continue to read longer words, review words ending in -ing and root words with -ed.

As always, please refer to the Little Wandle website where you can find lots of ideas about how to support your child at home. https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/

In Maths, we will be covering topics like sharing and grouping, visualising, building, maps and making connections.

You can find all the important information as well as ideas for home learning on the Parent and Pupils part of White Rose website.https://whiteroseeducation.com/parent-pupil-resources/maths/home-learning?year=early-years

It will be an extremely busy term, and we are looking forward to seeing what it will bring!
