RE Week

Our RE week in the 2nd term will start with the question:

Who is Jewish and what do they believe?

We will also at the 5 main religions and asking questions like:

Who is a Christian and what do they believe

Who is a Muslim and what do they believe?

What do different people believe about God?

Why do some people believe God exists?

We had a table filled with Jewish objects; We have been identifying what they are and discussing what they symbolise.

In Leeds class, we made ‘Challah bread’. Challah bread is eaten during the celebration of ‘Shabbat’. They celebrate this every week and enjoy time with their friends and family, eating delicious foods like ‘Challa bread’ and many more.

In Leeds class, we have been exploring different objects found in the Jewish home. One of them is the ‘Mezuzah’. The Mezuzah hangs on the door and inside is a special prayer to remind them that God is always around them. They rub the Mezuzah, as they enter the room, to show God they love and respect him.

We have been exploring important traditions, special days and festivals and objects that you can find in Judaism.

We have found out lots, including making our own Mezuzahs and placing our own special message inside, much like the Shema prayer. We have also been busy cooking a delicious Challah bread that Jewish families enjoy eating on the Shabbat.
