Welcome to the website for Reception 2016/17 at Bromstone Primary School.  We can't wait to celebrate all the fantastic adventures, learning and fun the children will have this year!

Throughout this year we will be sharing many wonderful pictures and videos of your children's experiences in their first year at Bromstone.

We will also use the website to provide useful information such as;

  • Planning
  • Photos of learning
  • Useful websites to support your child's learning
  • Up and coming trips and events
  • Topics and areas of learning the children are exploring
  • Forest School information

These are some useful websites to support your child's learning at home

All Aboard for the Sixth Term

Ahoy me mateys! It's Pirates and Superheroes for our final topic of the year!  The children have started term 6 full of enthusiasm for the topic they chose.

In our final term we are extremely proud of the progress your children have made and we would like to say thank you for your support throughout the year.  The children have worked hard to achieve their full potential and we are sure this will give them excellent foundations as they progress into Key Stage One.

We look forward sharing photos of the children's learning very soon.

In the meantime please look at our medium term plan for this term and important information and dates in our curriculum letter.

Medium Term Summer 2 2017

Fabulous Fifth Term!

We are very excited to be entering our 5th term in reception with our new topic... 'Our Living World'.  This topic will allow the children to demonstrate and build on their knowledge of the world around them.  At the beginning of the term we are off to Wingham Wildlife Park for a day!

This will give the children the opportunity to show what they will learn through all aspects of the early years curriculum. From writing to art and role play.  Our role plays next term will be a vets and a farm shop which we are sure the children will love.  We look forward to sharing photos of the learning soon.  In the meantime please have a look at the planning for next term.

We have had great start to our summer term.  The Wingham trip was a great success and the children demonstrated the school values with abundance.  The children are relishing learning more about 'Our Living World'. Here are some pictures to show this...

Fun Filled Fourth Term!

Wow, it's our forth term already and the children's learning behaviours are brilliant.

They've started the new topic 'Traditional Tales' full of excitement and energy.

We look forward to sharing photos of this term soon.  In the meantime please have a look at our termly overview and newsletter to gain more information...

Spring 2, Newsletter and Medium Term Planning

Intergalactic Third Term!

The children have launched into the spring term with out of the this world enthusiasm! It's only week 3 and we have already made rockets, written alien names, told stories about our own planets, designed our own aliens and much more.   We can't wait to explore even more about our topic 'Space' over the next few weeks.  We will be reading some lovely stories with the children, such as; Aliens Love Underpants, The Man on The Moon, Whatever Next and the Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet!

The children have shown brilliant development in their reading skills.  This is hugely supported by those parents who spend lots of time sharing books with the children at home.

The children mathematical skills are also developing fantastically and we our now focusing on teen numbers and 1 more and 1 less.

When changing for PE it is evident which children can dress themselves, which they feel very proud of.  As it is one of the Early Learning Goals it is really important to support your child by encouraging your child to dress independently.

Please take time to have a look at the lovely photos of children's learning over the last few weeks. More to come soon...
