Reception at Bromstone
Dream Believe Achieve
Welcome to the website for Reception 2017/18 at Bromstone Primary School. We can't wait to celebrate all the fantastic adventures, learning and fun the children will have this year!
Throughout this year we will be sharing many wonderful pictures and videos of your children's experiences in their first year at Bromstone.
We will also use the website to provide useful information such as;
Here are some useful websites to support your child's learning at home
The children have relished the opportunities and learning during their second term at school.
The children have finally been able to enjoy our wonderful new outside learning environment! After much anticipation the children's learning has taken off with the new and exciting learning opportunities this provides.
We have been fortunate with the weather and the children have all participated in Forest School activities.
Our PE lessons have been very exciting and the children are getting more independent at changing themselves.
Our learning this term has centred around 'Changes' and based around the question: "Why do squirrels hide their nuts?" From nature walks, stories and mathematics outside, the children have developed their understanding of the changes that take part in our immediate environment.
The children are performing as the choir at our nativity: 'A King is Born'. The children's confidence in the rehearsals has been amazing and we can't wait for you to share their success at the performance.
Intergalactic Third Term!
The children have launched into the spring term with out of the this world enthusiasm! It's only week 3 and we have already made rockets, written alien names, told stories about our own planets, designed our own aliens and much more. We can't wait to explore even more about our topic 'Space' over the next few weeks. We will be reading some lovely stories with the children, such as; Aliens Love Underpants, The Man on The Moon, Whatever Next and the Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet!
The children have shown brilliant development in their reading skills. This is hugely supported by those parents who spend lots of time sharing books with the children at home.
The children mathematical skills are also developing fantastically and we our now focusing on teen numbers and 1 more and 1 less.
When changing for PE it is evident which children can dress themselves, which they feel very proud of. As it is one of the Early Learning Goals it is really important to support your child by encouraging your child to dress independently.
More to come soon...
Wow, it's our forth term already and the children's learning behaviours are brilliant.
They've started the new topic 'Traditional Tales' full of excitement and energy.
We look forward to sharing photos of this term soon. In the meantime please have a look at our termly overview and newsletter to gain more information...
We are very excited to be entering our 5th term in reception with our new topic... 'Our Living World'. This topic will allow the children to demonstrate and build on their knowledge of the world around them.
At Bromstone we are very lucky to have Forest School on site; where the children can experience the natural world first hand. We also have chickens, ducks and rabbits which the children love to feed, as well as our pond where the children have noticed lots of tad poles. We will be looking carefully at all these things over the next term. At the beginning of the term we are also off to Wingham Wildlife Park for the day!
This will give the children the opportunity to show what they will learn through all aspects of the Early Years curriculum. From writing to art and role play. Our role plays this term are a pet shop/vets and a secret woodland. We look forward to sharing photos of the learning soon. In the meantime please have a look at the planning for this term.
All Aboard for the Sixth Term
Ahoy me mateys! It's Pirates and Superheroes for our final topic of the year! The children have started term 6 full of enthusiasm for the topic they chose.
In our final term we are extremely proud of the progress your children have made and we would like to say thank you for your support throughout the year. The children have worked hard to achieve their full potential and we are sure this will give them excellent foundations as they progress into Key Stage One.
We look forward sharing photos of the children's learning very soon.
In the meantime please look at our medium term plan for this term and important information and dates in our curriculum letter.
