Term 3

Exciting Home Learning Ideas

Year 1

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely holiday.

We are really looking forward to our new term and are excited to announce our new topic is Superheroes! This term we have plans for an exciting trip!

Superheroes

Greetings, young heroes. We all have a favourite superhero to rescue our planet from evil villains.

What about real-life heroes? The emergency services at the end of the phone in our moment of need.

What do true superheroes eat? How do the ordinary men and women who achieve great things, keep their senses and special powers sharp?

The children will be reading and looking at the super stories.

Dream! Believe! Achieve!

Mrs Backhouse and Mr Gifford

In English we have been enjoying the story ‘Supertato’ and coming up with exciting adjectives to describe him. We produced some wonderful pieces of writing! The evil pea also taped some carrots to the tables so we wrote speech bubbles and at playtime Supertato came to rescue the carrots…hooray! We also had fun designing and making our very own Supertato

Making rainbows in science

Exploring place value in maths

In science we have been making predictions, observing and discussing our findings. We learnt about the wind and used carriers bags to make wind socks to find out the direction of the wind. We discussed gusts of wind, direction and had lots of fun exploring. We learnt that the sun plays an important part in wind speed and that an anemometer measures the wind speed. It was a windy day and the wind was blowing in an Easterly direction.
