We have been practising blending familiar sounds to read words. Here is a video of the sounds we have been learning about so far this year. We love listening to the song in class and joining in with the actions!
Something else we are practising in school is reading the 'tricky words'. These are words that cannot be sounded out and therefore have to be recognised as a sight word, such as I, to and the.
Here is a song we have a sing to in school to help us remember the words...
This term we have been sharing traditional stories. We have enjoyed listening to them and re creating them ourselves.
We love to role play as the characters such as the Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood.
Cooking
This term we have also learnt lots of creative skills when we have had a try at cooking. During Goldilocks and the Three Bears we made porridge and all got to have a taste.
Then during The Gingerbread Man we made class gingerbread and cut it into a person shape. We loved joining in with the measuring, squeezing, pouring and mixing. The best part was taking our gingerbread man home to eat!
